Hello, and sorry for the delay in my posting, I just had a hectic week last week {and weekend} playing catch up from my vacay.  I actually had a moment that I felt like a bad blogger, and then I realized there is no such thing as a bad blogger!  You see, in my mind, it takes all kinds of bloggers, styles, and posting techniques to keep it interesting, don't you think?

I keep hearing these blogging "rules" like, to start a blog you have to have a niche, you have to blog daily, you have to have lots of writing content, and you can't just post random, pretty images... To that, I say - Get real!  I have a blog because I enjoy it, not because I want to be a blogger.

On average, I work six long days a week, run 5kms three times a week, do yoga/pilates three times a week, cook dinners, make lunches, and breakfast shakes daily.  I keep my house clean and the fridge stocked, do laundry, iron, and handle the dry-cleaning.  I also handle other things that life throws at me, and try to spend as much time as I can feeling sane, and spending down time with friends and loved ones.  Whew.  I'm sure you can all relate.  So no, I do not have time to post a new DIY project each week, or show you my newly decorated home, or three ways to style a bookshelf, because I'm busy.  Does that make me a bad blogger?  Nope, not at all - That makes me real!

I have decided to put less pressure on myself about posting.  I have to keep in mind, I do it because I enjoy it, not because I have to.  And for those of you who feel pressure, or feel like a bad blogger because you are not keeping up with your posts, or because you don't have a special niche, a perfect home, or the time to source a gazillion images with green {or any other colour} in them - I say relax!  Let's just have fun, shall we?

And now for some random, pretty images...

  1. Great post! I know exactly how you feel! God for you for not letting the "rules" take over! This was a great pep talk for me, too! =)

  2. Thanks for this! So true, the pressures of "blogging" can be ridiculous. I blog because I enjoy it too. It can be hard to stay focussed and not get wrapped up in it all.

Love you and your blog- still envious you can upholster and make magic happen with fabric!

  3. I, for one, love all of these random, pretty images. Thank you!

  4. Staci, can I just tell you how much I LOVE this post! I couldn't agree with you more. I am a designer first to my clients and blogger comes much farther down the list in order of priorities. Life filled with family, friends, activities and experiences are far more important than any blog post. I adore you for writing this! xo

Oodles of thanks for the comment!
