When Staci asked me to participate in her Favourite Interior series, my mind was sent reeling with so many different beautiful images. While I almost hate to pick one favourite, there are some spaces that have you coming back to them over and over again. For me, one of those would definitely be Katie Lee Joel's (former) New York townhouse, designed by Nate Berkus. Nate's work is always has a beautiful sense of balance and I love how this space feels modern and fresh, yet still has nods to a more traditional, romantic style.
Wide open and bright, the main floor is perfect for entertaining - a more formal seating area ideal for parties and cocktails, that leads into an elegant dining area, complete with built in bookshelves to display treasures and add a personal touch. The industrial shelf is a lovely contrast to the more traditional, Parisian aesthetic of the dining set. Of course, the perfect space to entertain could not be complete without what can only be described as a consummate chef's kitchen with floor to ceiling windows and the perfect breakfast nook.
The upstairs lounge is a little more laid back - with a custom extra long sofa built for lounging à deux.
The guest bedroom was one of my favourite parts - open, airy and full of light. Simple, sophisticated but not overdone or stuffy. Makes me wish I was on Katie's guest-list - both for the party downstairs (complete with her delicious cooking!) and then to retire to this beautiful suite afterwards.
I'm not sure if this home will ever leave my inspiration files, there are so many different facets to love. I wonder if Nate will be helping Katie with her new place?
Thanks everyone, for letting me share a bit of one of my all-time favourite spaces + thank you so much for inviting me Staci!
I have this place somewhere in my files and had forgotten all about it, so thanks for reminding me of it's beauty! It's perfect. I hope you all enjoyed this space too, and be sure to visit Sharalee at Escapade for more beauty and inspiration!
