Elm Hill Cookies

A couple of weeks ago I stopped into a darling little cookie shop, and I just have to share it with you all...

Welcome to Elm Hill Cookies, located at 250 Kerr Street in Oakville.  Elm Hill Cookies is owned and operated by Janis, who has loved baking since she first started making delicious treats as a child with her easy bake oven and has wanted a cookie shop for as long as she can remember.  I can imagine it was worth the wait - her shop is perfect!

Needless to say the interior design of the space "had me at hello" - I adore everything about it, and not a detail was missed.  The over all look suits the quality and style of the cookies, so much thought went into the decor and design of the shop - the way it should be.

Even the packaging is sweet.  I could not decide which cookie to try, so as you can see from my box I chose a bunch.  If you notice, the cookies are square - which ties in with Janis' motto at Elm Hill Cookies which is "no corners cut" - Janis uses only the best ingredients and each cookie is made with the utmost care... And you can definitely taste the care!

If you are in the area and looking for a great excuse to pop into the store {other than the obvious reason} how about to buy someone special a Valentine's Day treat?  The cookies on a stick, cookies in a jar, or even the vintage style cookie jars are perfect ways to say "I love you" on the 14th!

Be sure to say hello to Janis, she is one of the sweetest people I've met in a while.  When I asked her about how it felt to have her dream cookie store she replied "The last few years have been quite the journey for me.  I was told by business development specialists that selling only cookies would never work... They didn't believe people would come into a store just for cookies.  The hardest obstacle is sometimes believing in your idea and believing in yourself despite what others say.  I feel now that I have created the best job in the world for myself - I love seeing the joy that people get from my cookies.  It makes me very happy."

What a wonderful answer - I love happy, sweet and inspirational stories like that!  And whoever told Janis that people will not stop into Elm Hill Cookies just for cookies, obviously never tried her cookies.  I personally will stop into Elm Hill Cookies for cookies {be it for myself, a gift, or even for a party because Janis supplies cookies for both small and large} - and of course for a smile!  Will you?

Congrats to Janis on bringing your dreams to reality, and thank you for letting me share your story, Elm Hill Cookies, and all of your inspiration!

  1. I love darling stores like this! While I was living in Westdale for school- there was this cute as a button cupcake store - Because I loved them so much I would always buy them for quick and easy birthday gifts to support the store and share the love!
