Sarah & Tommy

I'm back!  Sorry this update took so long to get to you, my day got a little busier than expected.  I'm sure you are all waiting to hear about the great experience I had yesterday meeting Sarah Richardson and Tommy Smythe, well here goes...

Needless to say the best part of the day was seeing all of these wonderful blogger ladies and meeting Sarah and Tommy!  But I'm sure you are dying to see the office...

 via
As you enter there is this beautiful seating area, with my favorite sofa of all time {designed by Sarah of course} the Claremont, which I am happy to say I have in my own family room.  Also, I am love, love, loving that vintage chandelier, which sadly I do not have in my home.

 via
Along the one wall there are a series of vignettes like this one displaying select pieces from Sarah's furniture line.  This chaise is called the Charlotte.

 via
This chair I absolutely adore!  It's the Coco High Back Chair with custom tufting, as I'm sure you all know by now I love anything tufted.

 via
This chair I have not seen before, and when I checked the website I couldn't find it, so perhaps it is a new one or something vintage Sarah had reupholstered.  Either way I love it and that artsy, graphic, chevron style fabric - in fact I just picked up a sample of that last week for a client!  Great minds think alike!

 via
There is beautiful, soft, abstract artwork hanging through out, which has the same muted blues and greens that are within the space.  I didn't get a chance to ask who the artist was, but seeing as Sarah loves DIY projects, has a degree in fine art, and has mentioned she loves to paint - I can make a guess that she is the talent behind these beauties!

  via
Along the opposite wall there are a series of desks put together like this for her designers to work.  That is Lindsay, you may remember her from Design Inc. episodes, she is a very nice girl and sits closest to Sarah's office {which is through the doorway behind Lindsay} so she must be a huge asset to Sarah's team as well.  The chairs are once again from Sarah's line and they are called the Stephanie Dining Chair.  My favorite part about the office area is the beautiful vintage windows that were used to divide Sarah's office from the rest, which you can see behind Lindsay's left shoulder.  So, so, so pretty!

This little room was tucked in the back corner, I'm assuming they use it as a type of board room - what a fun board room this would be to meet in, right?  What a treat it would be to pull up some chairs and that beautiful Jude Bench Seat {shown against the back wall and from Sarah's collection} to the stunning  carrera marble table for a meeting.  I had a peak at their inspiration board {how cool is that?  I was really excited about that!}, and was delighted to see all the fun images full of bold colour, rich texture, and graphic pattern.  Sarah and her team really seem to be embracing colour like never before - which you will be seeing in the new show premiering January 4th on HGTV called "Sarah 101" I'll talk more about that later.

In front of the kitchen there is a large island covered in home decor goodies for sampling and inspiration... I want those tea cups!

The kitchen is clean, crisp and white - very Sarah, oh and the barstools are the Jake Stool.  If you'll notice, this is the same kitchen that Sarah and Tommy made the pecan puffs in during their Christmas special last year.  Fun!  They had nibbles and refreshments for us, and Sarah made the tea for a few girls herself - She was so welcoming and down to earth, love that about her!

After the fun of checking out the office space, it was time for us to sit down and chat with Sarah and Tommy.  Yay!  Sarah was very into it and to start off had one of her staff take a photo of us all so that she could post it on her website and facebook page!  The post said "I'm just starting a blogathon with a fab gang of bloggers at my office.  It's tea time at SRD!!!" - How fun right?

Tommy sat next to me, and I was across from Sarah, I like that they broke it up that way, it felt so relaxed and casual!  They chatted about why they always revamp and start new shows, which was neat to hear.  Basically, "Room Service" was full of DIY's and design, but then Sarah realized that people needed to know there was a whole team of people helping her, so "Design Inc." was born.  With "Design Inc." she realized that doing one room was great, but really people needed to know how to unify a whole home, so it was onto "Sarah's House".  Next up will be "Sarah 101", which will show people how to get a designer look, on an affordable budget, while using easily accessible products from places everyone shops at {like big box stores}.  Also, Tommy added that it would go more into depth as to why they make the choices they do, so if they put a red rug in a room then they will explain what type of red is best, and why they chose it over another.  Sounds like the season will be jam packed full of fun, inspiration, and information!

We got to ask questions as the chat went on, and my question was:  "You {Sarah} must have so many ideas for shows that would be great, but you are only one person and couldn't do them all, so do you ever think you would like to have your own production company and make money off of other people doing shows, like Oprah?"  Her answer {in short} was: "Yes!" - I am keeping my eyes open for that so I can audition!  How exciting would it be to not only have your own show, but to have the very talented Sarah Richardson helping you along - Sign me up!

Sarah and Tommy's publicist Deb {who is hilarious by the way} put together lovely little gift bags, and in the gift bags were autographed photos, a Sarah's House t-shirt, and the most exciting part - a copy of the season premier of "Sarah 101" which will be airing on HGTV on January 4th.  I watched it earlier this afternoon so I could mention it during this post, and may I say you will L-O-V-E the show!  I really had no doubts, I is Sarah and Tommy after all!

Overall I must say it was such an incredible experience!  The office was beautiful, Sarah and Tommy were such gracious hosts, and to top it off it was my birthday - one I will never forget!  Be sure you all stay tuned for more information on another upcoming event that Sarah and Tommy will be hosting, it will be a larger event, but sure to be just as delightful!
