Soon To Be My New Office

I have a couple of very, very exciting photos to share with you all... Ready?  Here you go...

I know, you all must think I am crazy, but this my friends is my spare bedroom {well, half of it - it's an L shaped room and one side has a gym/workout area} empty, which means I am finally getting an office.  I have been working at the dining room table for years now, and I've decided that it's time to slow down long enough to create an inspiring space for me! I am doing this space on an extremely small budget, but of course it won't look that way when I'm finished.  Here is what I'm thinking so far...

I am going very neutral {as you can see}, working with lots of white, various shades of grey, and bits of black.  I want the space to be very calm and not compete with any colours I maybe using for clients' projects {it's hard looking at colours for a project in a room with lots of colour, it can change the look completely, which is why neutral was an important choice for me} plus grey is SED's main logo colour!  I completely fell in love with the bird fabric that I picked up at In Vu {which will be my window valences} it is from their new collection from Dwell Studio - it's super stylish and very inexpensive, just what I'm looking for!  Also from the same collection is the graphic accent fabric I have chosen, and I will be using this for some DIY projects I have in mind.  I of course will be heading to Ikea for a lot of things, but the main two pieces are my desk {which will be 2 drawer units with a table top places on top} and the bookcase for more storage and display space.  I found my office chair through Kijiji, and it is much cheaper than anywhere else I managed to find it, so I am pleased with that.  The walls will be painted a soft blue/silvery grey {Benjamin Moore's Paper White}, and sadly the carpet will be staying the same, but I do hope to change it out in the future to hardwood.  That's all for now, I will be sure to show you the final product when it is completed, but what do you think so far?

  8. I think you've made some great design choices, Staci! Think how fantastic your light and bright space would look with darker hardwood floors ;-) Hey... I know about budgets! Before you know it you'll be able to change out the carpet. In the mean time, you'll be enjoying a space just for you - one that will help you get creative for your clients!!
