Happy Weekend

"There is always a way - if you are committed." - Tony Robbins

This weekend I will be running my first 5k charity event {The KSM Turkey Run, to help end hunger in Oakville}!  It was on my 30 Before 30 List as I have been working at becoming a runner all summer, and I have made it... I am a runner.  I ran my first 5k straight in 32 minutes a couple of weeks ago, so I feel good about doing a run in a public setting like a charity event.  Getting to this point was not {and some days is still not} easy, so if you want to become a runner and think "I cannot run, it's too hard" take it from me, you can!  I was a terrible runner, but with a lot of commitment and pushing myself to keep on going, I reached my goal - And it feels great!  At the start of summer I started by running for one minute {which sadly was fairly hard for me} then walking for two, and I would repeat that 10 times every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Each week I increased my run times by one minute, slowly decreased the repeats, and eventually cut out the walking time all together... And trust me, if I can do it, you can do it!  I would love to hear about your running stories - If you are a runner, or want to be, who or what inspired you... Let me know.  I hope you all have a Happy Long Thanksgiving Weekend!

  1. Wow, congrats on the achievement, Staci. I think running is VERY HARD - my knees hate the impact and I just can't get into it, but I admire runners immensely.

Good luck on your run for a cause - what a great way to say "I am thankful" this weekend.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Good for you for sticking to it! And doing it for charity!
